Community Networking for Wimberley & the Planet
|
|
The Sangha Café Project provides a community space—both here online & an actual location at Rancho Deluxe, 14010 RR 12, Wimberley, TX 78676. 512.847.9570. In this lovely retail space with choice ambience & good vibes, we also offer a relaxed seating area. You may serve yourself from hot & cold water for free, make some tea or coffee, browse the fine books, meet with friends, or make new ones, write in your journal, meditate or simply daydream. You will find information on events, services, and facilities in the area. Sally Curtis, the proprietor of Rancho Deluxe & her friend & co-worker Bruce Grether have long shared a dream of some kind of networking center/bookstore for the purpose of encouraging community in the literal sense of “common ground.” Our friend Elizabeth Dunn suggested the name Sangha Café using a Sanskrit term meaning “community,” to indicate mutual support on our chosen paths. With a group of many more special friends, we lovingly conspire to make this dream a reality. The Project will unfold over time; we are not in a rush. However we do have some exciting possibilities on our plate! Possibly we will provide some outdoor seating on the deck beside the beautiful garden bed. We plan to cultivate the selection of books exploring a variety of spiritual paths, philosophical interests, consciousness, self-awareness, sustainability & Nature. We will provide both an actual bulletin board at the store & online Links & a Creative Events calendar here to announce events, workshops & services in the area, as well as facilities allied with our broad concerns, possibly a Movie Club to share DVDs of special interest. We are open to suggestions, ideas, collaborations, donations. As facilitators we reserve the right to maintain a generous, yet specific focus according to our stated purpose. The conceptual artist Yoko Ono has said: “Dream you dream alone is just a dream. Dream we dream together is reality.” Her husband John Lennon said: “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.” We dream together to encourage awakening. If The Sangha Café Project resonates for you, please participate! |
